#platform
- To subscribe — The act of contracting, purchasing, or securing in advance the right of periodic use of a service, publication, show, or digital platform, in exchange for paying a sum of money. It is used almost exclusively as a reflexive verb ('to subscribe').
- Agoda — A major global online travel agency and tech platform specializing in hotel accommodations, flights, airport transfers, and vacation packages; originally founded in Thailand and later acquired by Booking Holdings Inc., it is highly recognized for its competitive pricing algorithms focused on the Asia-Pacific market.
- Aggregator — A digital platform, algorithm, search software, or business entity that automatically collects information, price offers, news, or scattered data from multiple web sources and displays them centrally within a single unified interface. As an adjective, it qualifies a system or function capable of gathering disparate elements.
- Altiplanation — A complex geomorphological process of leveling and flattening landforms in high mountainous regions, occurring under the combined action of repeated freezing and thawing (frost wedging, solifluction, and nivation); leads to the formation of stepped terraces and flat platforms called altiplanation surfaces.
- Anchor handler — A person specialized in performing anchoring and mooring maneuvers for ships in ports or on offshore platforms; a worker who secures structural anchors in construction. In a technical sense, the term can describe an automatic mechanical device or a special vessel (Anchor Handling Tug) used for launching, placing, and recovering heavy anchors of submarine oil facilities.
- Android — An automated robot with a human appearance, structurally built to mimic the look, movements, and functions of a man or human being. In the context of modern computer science, the term (capitalized, Android) designates the most popular open-source operating system for mobile devices, based on the Linux kernel and developed by Google.
- Anteclise — A major regional tectonic structure characterized by a slow and continuous upwarping or lifting of the crystalline basement of a continental platform. The sedimentary cover overlying it is typically thin, displaying large stratigraphic gaps due to prolonged erosion, being the opposite structure of a syneclise.
- Docking alongside — The act of docking or securing alongside and its result; a naval or aeronautical maneuver through which a light vessel, a helicopter, or a seaplane is guided, coupled, and structurally fixed aboard a mother ship or onto a specially prepared offshore platform.
- Self-erecting — A device, mechanism, or industrial vehicle capable of raising, erecting, or mounting its own structure or heavy components using its own hydraulic systems and power without the assistance of an external crane. It is predominantly used in construction to describe specialized self-erecting tower cranes or high-precision mobile hydraulic platforms.
- Car carrier — A heavy-duty motor vehicle or massive towed auto platform, structurally built and equipped with specialized loading ramps, used for the secure road transport of other vehicles, heavy machinery, tractors, or new cars from the factory to dealers. This logistical machinery allows for the rigid securing and simultaneous transport of multiple passenger cars on two stacked levels.
- Car carrier — A heavy-duty motor vehicle, semi-truck, or specialized auto platform structurally designed for the secure road transport of other new or damaged vehicles, tractors, or machinery. As a masculine noun, it can also denote the economic operator or authorized legal entity performing auto transport activities of freight or passengers on public roads.
- Car carriers — The plural or feminine form of autotransportator; road assemblies, double-deck platforms, or large tanker trucks destined for the automated or assisted transport of specific freight. As an adjective, it describes vehicle fleets, companies, or logistical divisions whose main operations focus on heavy road transit.
- Truck-mounted platform — A complex self-propelled technological machinery or specialized vehicle equipped with a basket, a hydraulic elevating platform, or a vertical telescopic crane, used for high-altitude operations (power grid repairs, tree trimming, billboard installation). The device combines the rapid mobility of a truck with the structural stability of a mechanized working tower.
- Foredeep — An elongated, deep structural depression of the Earth's crust, located between a folded mountain chain (undergoing orogeny) and a stable platform or shield. The foredeep functions as a major sedimentary basin where vast volumes of terrigenous sediments (such as molasse, sandstones, conglomerates, and clays) accumulate due to the rapid erosion of the adjacent mountains.
- Crow's nest — A small platform located at the upper section of a ship's mast or on the superstructure of a warship, used as an advanced point for visual observation, signaling, telegraphy, or for installing searchlights and hydrodynamic detection equipment. In classic naval terminology, it defines the crow's nest or tops.
