- Antroduodenostomy — A major surgical intervention consisting of the creation of an anastomosis (direct artificial connection) between the gastric antrum and the duodenum, usually performed after a partial stomach resection or in cases of benign or malignant pyloric obstruction. This procedure restores the anatomical and functional continuity of the upper digestive tract, allowing gastric chyme to pass into the small intestine.
- Appendectomy — An emergency or scheduled surgical intervention consisting of the complete excision of the inflamed or infected vermiform appendix. This classic procedure can be performed via open approach (laparotomy) or through minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopy), being the standard treatment for acute appendicitis.
- Appendicocele — A rare herniary formation characterized by the protrusion and isolation of the vermiform appendix within a hernial sac (usually inguinal or femoral), clinically known also in the context of Amyand's hernia. This structural anomaly can progress to strangulation or local acute inflammation, requiring surgical treatment.
- Appendicolysis — A minimally invasive or open surgical procedure consisting of the release of the vermiform appendix from the inflammatory or cicatricial fibrous adhesions that block or distort it. This anatomical release intervention restores the organ's mobility and normal lumen, eliminating chronic pain.
