#aggregate
- Actiniferous — Containing, bearing, or producing rays or structures with a radiating, divergent, or star-like appearance. In a mineralogical context, it is structurally used to describe minerals or crystalline aggregates whose component elements develop in the form of radial bundles or needles emerging from a common center. In botany, it describes plant organs featuring veins or extensions arranged as symmetrical rays.
- Actinite — A structural metamorphic rock or a variety of crystalline schist characterized by the predominant presence and radiating or fibrous arrangement of actinolite crystals (a mineral from the amphibole group). This technical term describes compact geological formations, created under medium temperature and pressure conditions, recognized for their greenish hues and specific acicular texture.
- To aggregate — To collect, gather, unite, or assemble separate elements, individuals, statistical data, or material particles into a single whole, a compact mass, or a global structure. In macroeconomics, it describes the operation of centralizing individual or microeconomic indicators to obtain global aggregates, while in sociology it refers to the clustering of scattered groups around a common doctrine.
- Aggregate — As a noun, it designates a cluster of mineral elements or particles joined into a composite mass, or a complex machine made of interconnected units operating together. As an adjective or participle, it qualifies economic metrics or physical values obtained by summing up or combining individual components into a single global structure.
- Amyloid — An insoluble protein macromolecular aggregate with a pathological fibrillar structure folded into beta-sheets, which abnormally deposits in the intercellular spaces of various organs and tissues. Although its historical name suggests a resemblance to starch due to its specific staining reaction with iodine, amyloid is composed of conformationally altered proteins and is directly responsible for the onset and progression of amyloidosis and severe neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease.
- To coat with bitumen — To coat, cover, or mix mineral aggregates (crushed stone, gravel, sand) with a hydrocarbon binder (fluid bitumen or bituminous emulsion) to obtain asphalt mixtures for road surfaces. In civil engineering, this structural process ensures the cohesion, impermeability, and mechanical resistance of bituminous layers applied to highways or public roads.
- Bituminous coating — The act of coating with bitumen and its result; a technological process of uniformly covering mineral aggregates with a thin film of bitumen or another hydrocarbon binder. In bitumen technology, the quality of the coating determines the road surface's durability, preventing aggregate stripping under heavy traffic and freeze-thaw cycles.
- Bitumen-coated — Having undergone the process of anrobare; a mineral aggregate, stone chipping, or rocky material that has been uniformly wrapped and covered with a thin film of bitumen, emulsion, or hydrocarbon binder. In a technical sense, it describes the state of the components of an asphalt mixture ready to be laid and compacted on the roadway to form impermeable and resistant road layers.
- Self-aggregated — A system, structure, or molecular complex formed through the spontaneous grouping and binding of its own elementary components (particles, cells, macromolecules), driven by native intermolecular or electrostatic attractive forces without the intervention of an external binding agent. As an adjective, it describes a material or cellular assembly structured by this type of autonomous in situ assembly.
