Self-inductance
Definition
A scalar physical quantity characterizing the property of an electric circuit to produce its own magnetic flux when traversed by a variable electric current; self-inductance. Numerically, it equals the ratio of the total magnetic flux passing through the surface bounded by the circuit to the intensity of the current producing this flux, its International System unit being the henry (H).
