Definition
Pertaining to analysis or proceeding by analysis; a method or structural property based on decomposing a whole into its component elements to understand its nature and internal mechanisms. In linguistics, it describes languages or grammatical forms that express syntactic relationships using helper words (prepositions, conjunctions, auxiliary verbs) rather than inflections (suffixes, prefixes, endings), as is the case with synthetic languages.
