Allocrine
Definition
A term describing a gland, tissue, or secretion mechanism in which the produced biochemical substances are released outside the organism or toward another individual of the same or a different species, acting as external chemical messengers (such as pheromones or allomones). In a structural sense, it defines inter-organism exocrine chemical communication processes, opposed to classical endocrine or paracrine systems.
