Agamospore
Definition
A spore formed directly, without any prior gametic fusion or genetic recombination, serving as an autonomous unit of asexual propagation in algae, fungi, and certain lower plants. Structurally, the agamospore retains the complete chromosome number of the parent organism (often being diploid) and is capable of germinating as soon as it encounters favorable conditions, generating an identical individual.
