Definition
A specialized epithelial cell with a role in glandular secretion, characterized by a highly developed Golgi apparatus and numerous secretory granules in the cytoplasm. This structural and functional unit constitutes the parenchyma of exocrine and endocrine glands, being responsible for the synthesis and release of hormones, enzymes, or other body fluids.
