#texture
- Roughness — The state, quality, or characteristic of a surface being uneven, porous, or rough to the touch; (in a structural or technical sense) a small prominence, unevenness, or geometric imperfection that increases the friction force between two contacting bodies; (figuratively) a manifestation of hardness, harshness, or severity in behavior, language, or interpersonal relations.
- Roughened — Having been made or having become rough, rugged, dry, or lacking smoothness; in a figurative sense, it describes a situation, a regulation, a tone of voice, or a punishment that has become much more severe, rigid, restrictive, or harder to tolerate.
- Extremely rough — Very rough, excessively rugged, coarse, or sharp; an augmentative adjective used in popular speech to describe an object, a material, or a tool with highly pronounced roughness; it can also denote a type of fish or a rudimentary tool used for cleaning surfaces through abrasive rubbing.
- Astralite rock — A rare technical neologism used to describe a microstructural variety of metamorphic rock or silicate mineral with fine crystalline inclusions, which reflects light in a brilliant manner reminiscent of star dust or the night vault. In niche petrographic studies, the term indicates the textural property of certain ornamental rocks to present intense pseudo-sidereal reflections under polarized light.
- Ataxite — A structural type of iron meteorite (siderite) extremely rich in nickel (over 16%), characterized by the absence of Widmanstätten patterns when etched with acid. In a broad petrographic or structural sense, the term also describes an igneous rock or brecciated mineral mass with a completely irregular and unhomogeneous texture, formed by the chaotic mixing of distinct fragments.
- Stringy — Containing many threads, long, tough, and resistant fibers that are difficult to chew or separate; fibrous, filamentous. In botany and culinary terms, it describes vegetables or fruits that have passed their optimal maturity and developed woody filaments. Figuratively, it characterizes a lean person with dense, fibrous muscles, or behaviorally, a stubborn, rigid, difficult individual.
- Automorphic — Regarding minerals or crystals, having their own regular, well-developed geometric shapes, bounded by plane crystalline faces reflecting the internal symmetrical structure of the atomic lattice, without being modified or restricted by space constraints from neighboring minerals. In petrography, the term describes the first minerals that separate and solidify from an igneous melt, having full freedom of structural growth within the fluid residual liquid.
