#systems engineering
- Primed — Having undergone the process of priming; a technical system that has been initiated, prepared, or set in motion; a support surface (wall, concrete) previously treated with a coat of primer. In a mechanical or hydraulic sense, it describes a device or circuit from which air has been evacuated and which is ready to transmit fluid flow.
- Astatic (fem.) — The feminine form of the adjective 'astatic'; it characterizes a physical entity, an electrical variable, a control loop, or a casing that is in neutral equilibrium or exhibits no steady-state error; in automatics, it can refer to an astatic characteristic of a motor or relay.
- Self-adaptation — The act of self-adapting or its result; a process of automatic, spontaneous, or programmed adaptation of an organism, organ, or complex technical system to environmental variations or internal functional demands, ensuring the maintenance of homeostasis or optimal performance.
- To self-troubleshoot — To autonomously or automatically locate, remedy, and repair one's own malfunctions, technical errors, or hardware and software faults, without requiring the manual intervention of an external technician or engineer. In computer science, it describes the ability of an operating system or algorithm to run automated diagnostic and repair modules in the background.
- Self-troubleshooting — The act of self-troubleshooting and its result; an automated software feature, a mechanical self-repair cycle, or a structural process through which a facility or program independently remedies its operational problems. This mechanism considerably reduces downtime and maintenance operational costs.
- To autonomize — To make autonomous or to become autonomous; to grant or acquire administrative, operational, or decision-making independence within a structural system. In technology and robotics, it describes the process of transforming a manually controlled system into an automated assembly capable of running processes, analyzing data, and executing complex commands without direct human intervention or supervision.
- Autonomized — Having been made autonomous or having become functionally, operationally, or decision-makingly independent; a mechatronic system, software, department, or administrative territory structurally reorganized to function and make decisions without direct external intervention, supervision, or subsidies. In systems engineering, it describes the final state of an optimized infrastructure capable of self-regulation according to predefined parameters.
- Autostart — The structural capacity or process through which a mechanical, electrical, software system, or an engine triggers and begins its operation automatically, in response to a predefined stimulus or upon the restoration of power supply, without the manual intervention of an operator. In computer science and electronics, it describes the autonomous boot function or the automatic initialization of software services upon detecting a specific system state.
- Self-protective — Protecting or having the property to protect oneself against aggressions, risks, errors, or harmful external environmental factors; a system, mechanism, or behavior structurally configured for autonomous self-defense. In psychology, it describes a dysfunctional or adaptive mental screen or barrier utilized by the ego to block emotional distress, whereas in technology it denotes materials or circuits capable of automatic isolation during overload or failure.
