#pledger
- Pledger (archaic) — A rare archaic or regional form for a person who leaves an item in pawn (pledger) or, conversely depending on old regional contexts, the person or money-lender who receives pledges. In 19th-century administrative terminology, it designated an active participant in a pawning contract.
- Pawner — An individual or legal entity that gives or leaves a movable asset as a pawn (pledge) to secure a short-term loan; a pledger. Exceptionally and depending on old legal contexts, the term may also refer to a person managing a pawnshop, though modern usage confirms the role of the pledger.
- Pledger — A person who offers earnest money or a financial down payment to reserve, pledge, and ensure the subsequent purchase of a good or service. As an adjective, it describes a behavior or a legal act that serves to guarantee a transaction through the advance payment of a sum of money, structurally defining the quality of the contracting partner who initiates the material securing of a sales promise.
