#halmyris

• Astion — The name of a 3rd-century Christian martyr saint who suffered and was decapitated in the fortress of Halmyris (today in Dobrogea, Romania) alongside the priest Epictetus, being considered the oldest documented martyrs on Romanian territory. In an onomastic sense, it represents a rare male given name of Greek origin, celebrated in the Orthodox calendar on July 8th.
