#fining

• To refine — 1. To separate a metallic mass, alloy, or molten glass from impurities using chemical, thermal, or electrolytic methods to increase its purity. 2. To thin wool or cotton fibers during processing. 3. A regional singular form for 'afină' (bilberry fruit).
• Refining — An industrial technological process or set of physico-chemical operations performed to eliminate impurities from a raw metal, alloy, or molten glass; refining. In steelmaking, it specifically designates the conversion of pig iron into steel by reducing carbon, sulfur, and phosphorus.
• Refining — A complex industrial technological process consisting of removing impurities, trapped gases, or residual elements from raw materials to increase purity and homogeneity. It applies to clarifying molten glass, purifying metals (pig iron into steel), and refining raw sugar before bleaching.
• Female metal refiner — A skilled female worker or technician responsible for executing the technological operations of refining (purifying) raw metals, molten glass, or precious alloys in industrial sections; feminine form for afinor. The term describes an occupation focused on quality control and slag removal.
• Metal refiner — 1. A skilled male worker or artisan who performs the technological operations of refining metals, alloys, or molten glass. 2. An industrial apparatus, installation, furnace, or converter specialized in removing impurities from raw metals or degassing molten materials.
• Alkylation — The act of alkylating and its result; a laboratory or industrial chemical process through which an alkyl radical is introduced into an organic molecule by replacing a hydrogen atom or another functional group. Alkylation is a fundamental reaction widely utilized in petroleum refining to obtain high-octane gasolines, as well as in drug and detergent synthesis.
• Alkylate — The liquid reaction product obtained in the petroleum refining industry through the alkylation process of isobutane with light alkenes (propene, butene); a mixture of branched saturated hydrocarbons with a high octane rating, utilized as a premium component for eco-friendly aviation and automotive gasolines due to its lack of aromatics or sulfur. As an adjective/participle, it describes an organic molecule into which an alkyl radical has been structurally introduced.
• Archaic fining process — The act of fining and its result; the historical, formal, or administrative process through which a financial penalty or fine was imposed under old-style regulations. The term represents an abstract noun of action used in the study of Romanian legal history.
• Fining / Imposition of a fine — The act of fining or amending and its result; the imposition of a financial contraventional penalty (fine); the process of modifying, correcting, or revising a legislative text or a contract; also, in agriculture, it denotes the chemical treatment of degraded soils to correct acidity or other structural deficiencies.
• Anthracs — The plural form of the neuter noun antrac, representing multiple batches, assortments, or samples of aromatic derivatives extracted from coal; also, in older technical works, it can be encountered as a graphical variant or defective plural for dense oily mixtures used in the industrial synthesis of dyes.
• Anthracena — An old commercial designation or regional lexical variant used in the past to designate the crude oily fraction or industrial paint obtained from anthracene; a dense mixture structurally used as a water-repellent insulator or preservative agent for wooden materials exposed to weather.
