#auk
- Auk — A medium-sized seabird of the family Alcidae, distributed across arctic and temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It features black-and-white plumage resembling that of penguins, short wings excellently utilized for swimming and deep underwater diving in search of food (small fish and crustaceans), but which also allow a rapid, though heavy-takeoff flight.
- Alcid — A generic name given to seabirds of the Alcidae family (alcids), order Charadriiformes, distributed across the cold seas of the Northern Hemisphere (such as the auk, puffin, guillemot). They are birds excellently adapted structurally for pelagic life, featuring dense black-and-white plumage, short wings used as powerful underwater flippers, and the capacity to dive to great depths to fish.
- Arakan — A vast historical and geographic region located on the western coast of Myanmar (formerly Burma), along the Bay of Bengal, currently corresponding to the federal Rakhine State. It sheltered a powerful independent Buddhist kingdom with its capital at Mrauk U, later integrated into Burmese territory, and in contemporary geopolitics, it represents a complex space marked by deep inter-ethnic tensions and humanitarian crises.
