#augite
- Augite — A mineral from the silicate class, belonging to the monoclinic pyroxene group, black, dark green, or brown, containing calcium, magnesium, iron, and aluminum. It is an essential and widespread component in many igneous rocks such as basalt, gabbro, or diabase.
- Augitite — An effusive, ultrabasic, and melanocratic igneous rock, completely lacking feldspars, composed primarily of large augite and magnetite crystals embedded in a glassy or microcrystalline basaltic groundmass. In structural geology, it represents a rare variety of volcanic pyroxenite.
