#auditory system
- Antehelix — A curved prominence of the external ear pinna, situated in front of and parallel to the helix, separated from it by the scaphoid fossa. This cartilaginous structure bifurcates in its upper part into two flexible crura that frame the triangular fossa, playing an essential role in capturing, reflecting, and guiding sound waves toward the external auditory canal.
- Hearing impairment — A popular term for deafness or a temporary or partial loss of hearing; a pathological or accidental state where an individual's auditory capacity is structurally diminished due to loud noise, an inner ear condition, or aging.
- Hearing — One of the five fundamental senses of humans and vertebrate animals, through which sound waves from the environment are perceived; a complex physiological function performed by the auditory system (ear, acoustic nerve, and cortical centers in the brain), consisting of transforming mechanical vibrations into nerve impulses.
