#amphicotyl

• Amphicotyl — An anatomical formation or plant embryonic axis presenting a hybrid structure or a complete fusion of cotyledons, forming a tubular body around the central plumule; as an adjective, it describes a seed, embryo, or seedling affected by this type of structural layout, characterized by the coalescence of primary embryonic organs.
• Amphicotyledon — An embryo or plant whose cotyledons are laterally fused, giving rise to a single funnel-shaped or tubular structure surrounding the central axis; as an adjective, it describes a plant organism, seed, or embryonic development marked by the symmetrical coalescence of both embryonic leaves.
• Amphicotylism — A morphogenetic phenomenon or plant embryonic anomaly characterized by the total or partial structural fusion of the two cotyledons, resulting in a tubular or funnel-shaped structure that surrounds the central plumule. This anatomical modification, accidentally encountered in some dicotyledonous plants, is studied within plant teratology and seed ontogeny.
