#aldolase
- Aldolase — An enzyme belonging to the lyase class that catalyzes the reversible cleavage of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate into two triose phosphates (glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate), a core step in the glycolytic pathway. Clinical measurements of its serum levels are utilized to diagnose acute muscle or hepatic disorders.
- Aldolasemia — The presence of the enzyme called aldolase in the circulating blood; in a clinical sense, the term refers to the numerical value or concentration of this enzyme in the patient's plasma. Fluctuations in this value indicate the integrity level of cellular membranes in striated muscle and hepatic tissues.
