#Epigoni
- Acarnan — A Greek mythological hero, one of the Epigoni, and the son of the seer Alcmaeon and the nymph Callirhoe (daughter of the river god Achelous). According to legend, Zeus miraculously accelerated his and his brother Amphoterus's growth so they could avenge their murdered father. He later migrated to the western coast of central Greece, where he founded the ancient state and region named after him: Acarnania.
- Aegialeus — The name borne by several distinct figures in Greek mythology, the most prominent being the king of Argos, son of Adrastus, recognized as one of the Epigoni (the descendants of the Seven against Thebes). He participated in the second expedition against Thebes, becoming the sole leader among the Epigoni to perish in battle. Another mythological Aegialeus is the founding king of Sicyon, regarded as a son of the river god Inachus.
- Alcmaeon — The standard Latinized form of the Greek name Alcmeon (Alkmaion); in history and philosophy, it refers to Alcmaeon of Croton (5th century BCE), a pre-Socratic philosopher and renowned medical theorist, considered among the first to perform anatomical dissections and propose the brain as the central seat of intelligence and perception. In mythology, he is one of the Epigoni, son of Amphiaraus and Eriphyle, who killed his mother to avenge his father.
- Alcmaeon — The Romanian form of the ancient Greek name Alkmaion; it primarily refers to Alcmaeon of Croton (5th century BCE), a famous pre-Socratic philosopher and medical theorist, historically recognized as a pioneer of anatomical dissections and for his revolutionary hypothesis that the brain is the central seat of thought and sensory perception. In mythology, he is one of the Epigoni, son of Amphiaraus, structurally trapped by fate in the tragedy of matricide.
- Amphilochus — A mythological Greek hero and seer, the son of Amphiaraus and Eriphyle, who participated in the expedition of the Epigoni against Thebes and the Trojan War. Inheriting the gift of prophecy from his father, he is considered the legendary founder of Amphilochian Argos and the oracle at Mallus (Cilicia), being worshiped as a healing hero in antiquity.
