WMO Meteorological Glossary and International Lexicon of Atmospheric Physics
- Anabatic — Moving upward; describes a warm, ascending air current that rises along the slope of a mountain or hill, as a result of intense ground heating under the direct action of solar radiation. This structural atmospheric phenomenon is essential in mountain meteorology, causing the formation of cumuliform clouds over ridges during midday.
- Isallobaric — Pertaining to the negative or positive variation of atmospheric pressure recorded within a specific time interval; a special isobaric line used on synoptic charts to connect points with the same baric tendency value. Although rarely used as an independent adjective, the term describes phenomena, variations, or graphical representations directly related to air mass dynamics and pressure modifications preceding major weather changes.
