Handbook of Digital Network Architectures, Electronics and Signal Processing

• Self-synchronization — A technical property or process through which two or more systems, circuits, generators, or digital data streams automatically align their phases, frequencies, internal clocks, or operational states without requiring a dedicated external control signal. In communication networks, this phenomenon guarantees the perfect correlation of transmissions by extracting clock pulses directly from the structure of the received code.
