- Self-neglect — The act of ignoring oneself and its result; the conscious or subconscious psychological process through which an individual minimizes, represses, or completely neglects their own emotional, biological, and social needs. In modern therapeutic terminology, this phenomenon is correlated with burnout syndrome and the systematic denial of one's own identity in favor of external imperatives.
