Autoanalgesia
Definition
A physiological, neurological, or psychological phenomenon whereby the body spontaneously diminishes, blocks, or suppresses its own perception of physical pain through the internal release of endorphins, enkephalins, or by activating descending inhibitory pathways of the central nervous system, without the administration of external analgesic substances.
