Autarky
Definition
A state or economic policy of a state or community aiming for absolute self-sufficiency and total independence from the outside, by domestically producing all resources necessary for subsistence and development; the voluntary absence of international trade relations. In ancient Greek philosophy (Cynics, Stoics), the concept represents the virtue of being master of one's own life, freed from material desires dependent on others.
