Definition
A form of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) consisting of an individual's irresistible and obsessive need to count everything they see or hear, or to perform constant and useless mental mathematical calculations. Affected individuals feel deep anxiety if interrupted from this ritual, subconsciously believing that failing to complete the count (such as counting steps, building windows, or lampposts) can cause a disaster.
