Definition
A benign or malignant tumor formation located within the adrenal cortex, structurally capable of secreting excess androgenic hormones; a virilizing adenoma or carcinoma. This neoplasm causes severe endocrine disorders clinically manifested through virilization syndrome, pronounced hirsutism, and secondary alterations of secondary sexual characteristics.
