Definition
A rare ophthalmological condition, either congenital or acquired (following chemical burns, trauma, or severe inflammation), characterized by the partial or total fusion of the margins of the upper and lower eyelids along the palpebral fissure, leading to a narrowing of the eye opening or the complete inability to open the affected eye.
