Angioplegia
Definition
A sudden, temporary, or permanent paralysis of the smooth muscle fibers within blood vessel walls, causing a total loss of vascular tone and uncontrolled generalized or localized vasodilation. This structural pathological phenomenon, caused by severe lesions of the vegetative nervous system, extremely powerful toxins, or well-defined anaphylactic shocks, severely disrupts hemodynamics and circulatory autoregulation, leading to the collapse of blood pressure.
