Definition
A special direct current electrical generator with armature reaction, utilized as an electromagnetic power amplifier in automatic regulation and electrical drive systems. This device uses the magnetic flux of the short-circuit armature current to achieve an extremely high amplification factor, allowing the control of large output powers using very small electrical command signals.
