Alcaic
Definition
Pertaining to or characteristic of the Greek poet Alcaeus or the metrical structure invented by him. In ancient and classical prosody, the term describes a type of verse or a stanza composed of a specific combination of long and short syllables (a special hendecasyllable), later successfully adopted by Latin poets, most notably by Horace in his Odes.
