Aerodyne
Definition
A general or historical technical term used to designate any aircraft heavier than air (such as airplanes, helicopters, or gliders), whose support and lift in the atmosphere are provided exclusively by aerodynamic forces generated by the relative motion of its lifting surfaces (wings, rotors) in contact with the airflow. It represents the opposite of aerostats (balloons, zeppelins), which float based on Archimedean buoyancy.
