Adiastolia
Definition
A severe pathological condition characterized by the marked reduction, impedance, or near-complete absence of the ventricular distension and filling phase (diastole) of the heart during the cardiac cycle. This structural clinical phenomenon is most frequently caused by rigid external compression, as seen in constrictive pericarditis, cardiac tamponade, or advanced myocardial fibrosis, preventing the heart from receiving an optimal blood volume and leading to circulatory failure.
