Actinobiology
Definition
An interdisciplinary branch of biology dealing with the structural and physiological study of the effects produced by luminous, ultraviolet, x-ray, or nuclear radiation on living organisms and cellular macromolecules. Actinobiology analyzes both adaptive mechanisms or genetic mutations induced by radiant fluxes in the environment, as well as therapeutic applications or ecological risks determined by exposure to various sources of electromagnetic energy.
