• Self-isolation — The act of voluntarily separating oneself or doing so at the recommendation of authorities from the rest of society, by staying at home, to prevent the spread of a contagious disease or as a form of deliberate social withdrawal. Although the notion of isolation is old, the hyphenated compound spelling 'auto-izolare' has entered heavily into the administrative, medical, and everyday language in Romania, treated as a distinct form not registered individually in the general dexonline body.
• To self-quarantine — To voluntarily isolate oneself at one's own domicile or in a specially arranged space for a determined period, with the purpose of preventing the spread of a contagious infectious disease.
