• Antofalla — A massive stratovolcano, active in a geological sense, located in northwestern Argentina (Catamarca region), at the edge of the arid Atacama Desert. This volcanic complex, whose peaks exceed six thousand meters in altitude, is flanked by a large homonymous salt flat (Salar de Antofalla) and represents one of the most isolated and spectacular geomorphological landmarks in the Andes mountain range.
