#rock layer
- Outcrop — Part of a geological formation, rock layer, or mineral deposit that appears directly at the Earth's surface, exposed from soil or vegetation due to erosion or excavation. In field research, these structures represent primary points of direct observation for geologists, allowing the analysis of the crust's structure without deep drilling.
- Argillolite — A consolidated argillaceous sedimentary rock, structurally formed through the cementation, compaction, and deep dehydration of fine pelitic deposits (clay muds); a fine argillaceous sandstone or mudstone rock. In a geological sense, argilolitul is characterized by a massive texture, compact mass, and the absence of obvious fissility, representing a stable lithostratigraphic unit used in sedimentary basin analysis.
- Asthenosphere — A layer ofthe solid Earth located in the upper mantle, directly below the lithosphere (at a depth between approximately 100 and 410 kilometers); it is characterized by rocks in a plastic, viscous, and partially molten state due to high temperatures and pressures, allowing the slow movement of overriding tectonic plates through convection currents.
