#resting spore
- Agamohypnospore — An asexual resting spore, equipped with a thick, impermeable cell wall, which forms without any prior gametic fusion and enters a dormant state (hypnobiosis) to survive unfavorable environmental conditions. Structurally, this agamic cell concentrates storage materials, allowing lower plants, algae, or fungi to propagate their genome intact until optimal germination conditions are restored.
- Amphispore — A special type of resting spore, with thickened and often ornamented walls, produced by certain parasitic fungi (especially from the order Uredinales / rusts) under environmental stress. This spore ensures the survival of the organism through winter or prolonged drought, having a variable latency period and the ability to germinate directly on the host plant.
