- Ascostroma — A complex fruiting body or a structurally modified stroma inside of which cavities (locules) containing spore-bearing asci are formed, characteristic of ascomycete fungi from the Dothideomycetes class (or bitunicate ascomycetes). Unlike other ascomata, this protective wall is not built exclusively around the asci, but develops directly as a cavity within pre-existing stromatic tissue.
