#leukocyte
- Agranulocyte — A type of leukocyte (white blood cell) characterized by the absence of specific granules in its cytoplasm and a non-lobed nucleus; agranulocytes include lymphocytes and monocytes, playing a vital role in adaptive immunity.
- Aleukocytosis — A rare pathological condition characterized by the total absence or extreme, critical, and potentially fatal decrease of leukocytes (white blood cells) in the peripheral blood. It represents a severe manifestation of bone marrow aplasia or major hematopoietic disorders, exposing the organism to an imminent risk of massive opportunistic infections due to the complete collapse of the immune system.
- Amoeboid — Resembling an amoeba in shape, structure, or motor behavior; a term used especially to describe cells or microorganisms lacking a rigid wall, capable of constantly changing their cytoplasmic profile and moving by means of pseudopodia.
- Autoleukocytotherapy — An advanced therapeutic method consisting of harvesting, isolating, processing, or activating in the laboratory leukocytes (white blood cells) from a patient's own blood, followed by their reintroduction into their organism. Used in cancer immunotherapy or in treating severe infectious and autoimmune conditions, this autologous medical procedure aims to stimulate, reconfigure, or amplify the immune system's natural defense capacity against tumor cells or pathogens.
