• Lassoing — The act of catching with a lasso and its result; an archaic method of capturing animals (especially wild horses) or people using a long lasso called an 'arcan'. Historically, it refers to the brutal practice of conscripting young men into the military by ambush and binding them with a lasso, used in the Romanian Principalities and the Habsburg Empire, which later became a recurring theme in local folklore.
