#indifference
- Adiaphorous — Indifferent from a moral or religious standpoint; a fact, action, or element that is neither good nor bad, being neither commanded nor forbidden by any sacred law or ethical norm. In a historical and structural sense, the concept originates from Greek Stoicism and describes the external aspects of life that do not directly influence virtue or the salvation of the soul.
- Adiaphora — A state of spiritual indifference, complete detachment, or moral neutrality toward external worldly matters; in Stoic philosophy, it designates the attitude toward things considered 'adiaphora' (indifferent matters that are neither good nor bad in themselves, such as wealth or sickness). This structural term defines a position of axiological neutrality and rational apathy.
- Adiaphorization — The act of becoming indifferent from a moral, religious, or spiritual standpoint; a structural conceptual process through which an individual or a community transforms facts previously considered dogmatic or mandatory into neutral matters (adiaphora). This phenomenon of ethical relativization removes axiological tension and qualifies tolerance or indifference toward strict rules of social conduct.
- Anozodiaphoria — A neuropsychological disorder characterized by a state of affective indifference or complete unconcern displayed by a patient toward the presence of a severe functional deficit, such as a paralysis (hemiplegia) resulting from a stroke. Although the patient can verbally acknowledge the physical problem (unlike in anosognosia), they exhibit a bizarre lack of worry or emotional reaction toward the severity of the disease and its structural impact on their life.
- Apathy — A state of insensibility, total indifference, absence of interest, and emotional reactions toward the external world or oneself. In philosophy (stoicism), it represents the moral ideal of freeing the soul from passions (apatheia); in medicine, it is a symptom characteristic of depression, extreme exhaustion, schizophrenia, or frontal lobe lesions.
- Apoliticism — A social-political conception, attitude, or doctrine based on total neutrality, indifference, or a conscious refusal to participate in political life, partisan activities, or electoral struggles; ideological absenteeism. In modern sociology, the phenomenon is analyzed either as a form of passive protest against the governing class or as a mechanism for preserving institutional or artistic independence.
