• The asclepiad — The definite articulated form of the masculine noun 'asclepiad'; it specifically denotes the ancient verse composed of a spondee, two or three dactyls, and a trochee, or the individual plant specimen belonging to the Asclepiadaceae family. In structural philological contexts, this form indicates a direct reference to a specific metrical fragment or poem composed according to the prosodic rules established by the Greek poet Asclepiades.
