- Ardarie — An archaic designation or historical toponym associated in early medieval manuscripts with the territories or settlements inhabited by the Germanic tribe of the Gepids, led at one point by King Ardaric (5th century AD), who defeated the Huns at the Battle of Nedao. In onomastics and structural linguistics, the term can also represent an obsolete collective noun symbolically denoting a community under the jurisdiction or leadership of a military leader named Ardar.
