#geochemistry
- Limonitic — Having been coated, impregnated, or partially transformed into limonite under the action of exogenous alteration processes; a rock or mineral structurally saturated with secondary iron oxides and hydroxides, giving it a characteristic yellowish-brown coloration. In a structural sense, it reflects the advanced stage of oxidation of iron sulfides or carbonates in superficial deposit zones.
- Alitization — A geochemical and pedogenetic process of deep rock weathering under hot, humid climatic conditions, characterized by the near-total removal of silica and the residual accumulation of free aluminum hydroxides.
- Arseniferous — Containing or bearing arsenic in its structural composition; said of ores, rocks, geological strata, or groundwater in which arsenic is present as a stable chemical component or as a significant metallic impurity. The identification of arseniferous deposits is crucial in economic geology and environmental risk assessment, as processing these materials can release toxic substances into the surrounding environment.
- Asphaltogenic — Generating or favoring the formation of asphalt or bituminous substances; having the property to transform into heavy asphaltenic compounds under specific temperature and pressure conditions. In petroleum geochemistry, the term describes source rocks or crude oil types rich in heavy aromatic hydrocarbons, structurally prone to leaving massive bituminous residues following natural or industrial distillation processes.
