#early aviator

• Aeroplanist — A historical or archaic name given to an airplane pilot or aviator, especially during the pioneering era of aeronautics; a person who operated or navigated an aeroplane. This structural term highlights the direct connection of flying personnel with early fixed-wing aircraft, being later completely replaced by the universal term 'pilot'.
