#diffraction pattern
- Airy — A proper name of global scientific resonance, dedicated to the English astronomer and mathematician Sir George Biddell Airy; it denotes a multitude of concepts, mathematical functions, optical phenomena, and planetary landmarks. These include the Airy functions (solutions to linear differential equations), the Airy disk and associated diffraction pattern (essential for setting microscopic and telescopic limits), the Airy crater on Mars (which defines the zero meridian of that planet), as well as a fundamental theory of Earth's crustal isostasy.
