#decompression
- Air embolism — A severe medical condition characterized by the entry and entrapment of air or gas bubbles inside the blood circulatory system, leading to the obstruction of blood vessels (ischemia) in vital tissues. This clinical phenomenon often occurs during invasive surgical procedures, severe traumas, or rapid decompression in divers or pilots.
- Aeropathy — A general medical term used to designate any pathological condition, organic affection, or physiological disorder directly caused by sudden atmospheric pressure variations, abnormal chemical composition of inhaled air, or high-altitude exposure. This clinical category structurally includes decompression sickness in divers and pilots, altitude hypoxia, and barotrauma.
- Aponeurotomy — A surgical intervention consisting of the incision, sectioning, or cutting of an aponeurosis, usually performed to release excessive fascial tension, decompress a muscular compartment, or correct a pathological contracture; synonymous with aponeurotomy. It constitutes a minimalist operative procedure that restores the functional length of retracted fibrous tissues.
