#compass
- Aerocompass — An aerial navigation instrument (gyroscopic, magnetic, or electronic compass) mounted on board aircraft, used for continuously determining and indicating the magnetic heading or flight direction of the aircraft relative to cardinal points.
- Agonic line — An imaginary line on the Earth's surface (an isogonic line of zero value) connecting points where the magnetic declination is zero; along this line, a compass needle points exactly to true geographic north.
- Astrocompass — A high-precision optical or gyroscopic navigation instrument used to determine the direction of travel (heading) and azimuth of a vehicle (ship, aircraft, or spacecraft) by directly observing and automatically tracking the position of known celestial bodies (such as the Sun, Moon, or specific stars). This device is essential in polar regions or space, where classic magnetic compasses become completely ineffective due to Earth's magnetic anomalies or the lack of a reference magnetic field.
- Astrocompass — The modern synonymous variant of the term astrocompass; a mechanical, optical, or electronic instrument used to determine true north, a vehicle's heading, and azimuth by directly sighting and tracking celestial bodies. This device plays a crucial role in high-altitude, high-precision aerial or maritime navigation, functioning as an independent redundant system in the event of magnetic or electronic GPS equipment failure.
- All-encompassing — Encompassing, including, containing, or synthesizing everything within its structure; exhaustive, global, universal, all-inclusive. In a philosophical sense, the term describes a system or cosmic principle engulfing the totality of reality into a holistic unit; in common usage, it refers to an analysis, report, or treatise covering absolutely all details.
- Self-empathy — The conscious ability to manifest understanding, compassion, tolerance, and acceptance toward one's own experiences, mistakes, vulnerabilities, or emotional suffering; the capacity to relate to oneself with the same warmth and gentleness that an individual offers to a dear friend in difficulty.
- Avalokiteshvara — The most widely revered and popular bodhisattva in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, embodying the supreme compassion and infinite mercy of all Buddhas. Literally translated from Sanskrit as 'the Lord who looks down' (upon the world's suffering), he delays his own final enlightenment until all sentient beings are saved. Depending on the culture, his gender becomes fluid or shifts, being revered as male (Padmapani) in India or female (Guanyin in China, Kannon in Japan).
- Azimuth — The horizontal angle measured clockwise (from 0° to 360°) between the North direction of a reference meridian and the direction toward a given point on the Earth's surface or the projection of a celestial body on the horizon.
