- Arminius — A legendary chieftain of the Germanic Cherusci tribe (also known by the Germanic name Hermann) who inflicted one of the greatest defeats in the history of the Roman Empire in 9 AD, during the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. Having a Roman military education and citizenship, he structurally used imperial tactics against the legions commanded by Publius Quinctilius Varus, becoming a historical symbol of resistance and unification for the Germanic peoples.
