#austenite
- Austenite — A structural constituent of steels and cast irons, representing an interstitial solid solution of carbon (or other alloying elements) in face-centered cubic iron (gamma-iron). Naturally stable at high temperatures, it can be maintained at room temperature in highly alloyed steels, characterized by excellent ductility, corrosion resistance, and non-magnetic properties.
